NCEO Networks (under development)
The NCEO is currently developing a new approach to member-to-member contact for employee ownership companies, service providers, and companies considering employee ownership. Our goal is to help our members connect with their peers, thereby facilitating the spread of innovative ideas and best practices. Our first experiment with networks was a network of construction companies with period online meetings, a listserv, and document sharing. The approach showed promise but did not attract enough participants to be viable. The potential scope of these networks is broad and, based on member interest, we may set up groups such as:
- 100% ESOP-owned S corporations
- HR directors in ESOP companies
- appraisal firms interested in discussing the control premium
- mature ESOP companies (i.e., companies that have had ESOPs for 10 years or longer)
- inside ESOP trustees
- companies considering acquisitions
- TPAs
- members of communication committees
- CFOs working on projections of their repurchase obligation
We continue to believe that there is great value in facilitating the flow of information among our members, and we will experiment with other approaches, with the next version of the network program coming in the second half of 2008.
