The NCEO's 2022 ESOP Executive Compensation Survey is now collecting responses. Conducted since 2005, this survey is one of very few data sources for ESOP-specific executive compensation data. The survey is open to all privately held companies with an ESOP in place.
In appreciation for their time, all respondents will receive a 75% discount on the survey results.
The survey should take between 15 and 30 minutes to complete, after gathering payroll data. A PDF of the survey questionnaire can be
downloaded here for reference and to help gather the necessary information. Responses are fully confidential and are anonymized before we analyze the data.
The survey measures base, incentive, stock-based, and deferred compensation for eight executive positions. It also asks about methods for granting stock-based compensation, the ESOP benefit level, and demographic questions for comparisons. This year's survey also asks questions about how the labor market and inflation are affecting compensation and operations.
A total of 424 ESOPs (320 from 100% ESOP-owned companies) responded to our 2020 survey, breaking down by industry as follows:
