Our friends at the Beyster Institute in the Rady School of Management at the University of California at San Diego have just opened registration for their new training program for ESOP service providers. The course, titled Understanding ESOPs: Training to be an ESOP Professional, is offered in partnership with the UC San Diego Extension program and will cover all the basics for service providers who seek to gain more expertise in the field.

The program starts on March 28 and runs until July 15, consisting of 16 three-hour sessions meeting roughly every Wednesday between these dates. Taught by veteran ESOP professional and Beyster Institute Executive Director Kim Blaugher, the course qualifies for 60 hours of continuing education credit, and it is also approved by the State Bar of California for 20 hours of MCLE credit.

The course will cover everything from the history of ESOPs to what ESOP feasibility entails, planning for and executing a transaction, and how ESOPs are run post-transaction, including governance, administration, culture, and more. The full syllabus can be viewed here.
