Last week, The Rutgers Institute for the Study of Employee Ownership and Profit Sharing announced the launch of its first massive open online course (MOOC), titled "Our Share: Employee Ownership as a Wealth Sharing Tool." The free Coursera course, which is delivered as a series of short, engaging videos that can be viewed at one's own pace, teaches viewers what employee ownership is, how it differs from traditional business ownership models, the forms it can take, and the benefits it can provide for employees, retiring business owners, and the economy.
With curriculum developed by Adria Scharf, Director of Education and Collaboration at the Rutgers Institute for the Study of Employee Ownership and Profit Sharing, in partnership with Mary Ann Beyster and the Beyster Foundation for Enterprise Development, the course incorporates information from a variety of sources, including the Institute's research fellows, the NCEO, the Democracy at Work Institute (DAWI), the U.S. Federation of Worker Cooperatives, and more. Whether you are a business owner, an employee, or a student of related disciplines such as economics or entrepreneurship, the information provided in this course will help you understand employee ownership and determine whether it is suitable for your workplace.
To enroll in the course, which begins on January 30, visit the Coursera landing page.
