Matt Simon of myStockOptions.com has published a useful article on the five top trends in equity compensation over the last decade. The Web site, which helps people figure out how to understand and manage their equity grants, is now 10 years old.

In The Racial Wealth Gap (PDF), author Joyce Klein argues that business ownership may be a key to reversing the increasing race-based wealth gap.

In its report "A Job Quality Agenda for the Next Administration," the Aspen Institute, a leading nonpartisan think tank, joined the Center for American Progress, Council of Economic Advisors member Jared Bernstein, and others to “Promote employee ownership and worker cooperative models, which have been shown to have a positive association with quality jobs, by offering technical assistance and access to appropriate financing to support transitions to employee ownership, as well as new business development that includes some form of employee ownership."

The NCEO is an event sponsor for Aspirations 2012, Stock & Option Solutions' second annual conference on equity compensation, which will be held on July 25 in Santa Clara, CA. The conference is designed for executives and stock plan staff from private companies planning a liquidity event.

Stock & Option Solutions will be holding its fourth annual Aspirations conference in Campbell, CA on November 3. Aspirations is a one-day conference for stakeholders in private company equity compensation programs.

The "Best 100 Companies to Work For" again show a high overrepresentation of employee ownership companies. Of the 93 companies on the list that could have a stock plan (some are professional partnerships), we identified 46 that we know have broad equity plans.

We believe the same aspects that animate the ESOP world also animate the conversation around diversity, equity, and inclusion. A healthy ownership culture is, after all, an inclusive ownership culture. For this reason, the NCEO will host a DEI workshop starting July 29.
