This year, 7 of the 15 winners of the Wall Street Journal Winning Workplaces awards were employee ownership companies.

Employee ownership companies again comprised over half the stock corporations on the the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For list, including the No. 1 company, Google, which has a variety of broad-based plans, and nine ESOP companies. Nominations will close April 9 for the next list.

Annual elections for the NCEO board will be held in January. Board members meet in person once a year before the annual conference, in periodic call-in meetings, and on occasional ad hoc committees. They serve at their own expense.

Those interested in service on the NCEO's board of directors need to complete the nomination process by December 13, 2013.

The NCEO accept nominations and self-nominations for its board of directors until December 12.

Plaintiffs can have access to data on executive, officer, and board compensation; board minutes relating to the creation of an ESOP and other business plans; plan fiduciary meeting minutes; and data on other retirement plans, if these data are relevant to claims that the ESOP overpaid for stock.
